Luggage for kids has a really interesting story behind it. It all started in 1995 when 10 year old Aubyn Burnside of Hickory,North Carolina discovered the average foster child moves three or four times a year and carries their personal effects in a black garbage bag. That didn’t sit right with her, so she set up an organization called Suitcases for Kids and starting asking her community to help by donating unused luggage. Within one short month, social services departments in eight counties got suitcase deliveries.

At the end of the second year, Suitcases For Kids was active in all 50 states and Canada and was being introduced into the Soviet Union.
